How we recruit new staff to ARM

Values and ViewsOur goal is to recruit the brightest and best talent. Our excellent retention rates are a reflection on how carefully we recruit - and then invest in - our staff.

We look for people who will be focused when it comes to delivering value for our clients and supportive of internal customers such as other staff. Hopefully by now you will have realised that professionalism, honesty, and an excellent can-do attitude are very important to our brand.

So: let’s imagine you want to join us. What then?

Our first contact with you will normally be via telephone. We want to talk to you, assess your attitude and potential fit with our culture. If we like you and like us, the next step is to meet up.

Our standards are high and we use a variety of assessments when people come in for interview. We want individuals who will make a difference. Everybody has a different goal in life, and we acknowledge and embrace differences between individuals. We select people with the right attitude and mindset.

How do we select?

We involve ARM team members, and we use sound judgement and assessments. Some of the typical methods we will use to assess you are:

  • Informal meetings and invitations to the office – it is incredibly important that applicants see our office and experience the environment we have here
  • Formal interviews – these may be one-to-one or with a panel
  • Open Days – an opportunity for people to come in and spend some time with consultants or other staff and ask them about the job and what it is really like
  • Taster days – an informal insight into what it is like to work in recruitment, usually given to small groups of people who have no experience of our industry, delivered by our HR team
  • Various forms of assessment

We also participate in university and college fairs, and go to local schools to help raise awareness on topics such as how to successfully manage your first interview. In the long term, some of these students may be future employees!

No matter what, we consider it important that applicants are relaxed enough to be themselves during our recruitment process. We want you to feel comfortable with the decision that you make.
