I am what we call a 'Full Life-Cycle'
consultant at ARM. This means that I am responsible for building
relationships with businesses and winning their trust and
permission to supply staff to them and also finding the engineering
staff to fill their roles.
I have previously worked in pure Sales roles
in other companies and I found them hard after a time as I was
doing the same thing day in and day out. Working at ARM I can
honestly say that I jump out of bed most mornings (perhaps with the
exception of some Mondays) and look forward to being in the office.
I will often be one of the first people from my team at work and I
will wait for my colleagues to arrive before I start hassling them
to make cups of coffee for me.
I will generally split my day into two halves.
In the morning I will make new sales calls and catch up with my
existing clients, find out what job vacancies they have and ensure
that their needs are being met. In the afternoon I will focus on
candidates and getting applications and CVs sent into my clients. I
aim to send out around 25 CV's per week. It doesn't sound like that
many but the skills I recruit for are quite niche and there is not
an abundance of candidates available in the market.
I am often required to go out on the road and
visit my clients. I really enjoy doing this and after my first few
times became quite confident in doing it. I have met Managers and
Directors of some really interesting technology companies and I
have developed a genuine interest in the Engineering Industry.
I would recommend working in Recruitment for
highly motivated people that would like to earn a lot of money, but
are definitely prepared to put in a lot of work for it.
The training ARM has given me is
fantastic and they have slowly built up my capabilities over time.
I have never felt out of my depth in my job - even though I am
doing things now that I wouldn't have been comfortable with 18
months ago.
