The ‘Social Media’ and ‘Online Marketing’
sphere is a rapidly changing environment that provides many
opportunities and challenges. The turbo-charged evolution of web
2.0 and digital infrastructure surrounding it has placed me in an
innovative and exciting space for now and the future.
I usually arrive to work early to allow time
to catch up on news and developments within the ‘online’ space, and
also to catch up on and prioritise an ever increasing barrage of
emails that find their way to my inbox. If there are articles that
present an opportunity towards my objectives and remit I will
bookmark these for actioning later in the day.
One of the factors applicable to my position
is the requirement to be flexible on working tasks, suiting me to a
T as I’m not strictly a process-driven individual. However, I do
have an outline daily routine to apply some structure to what could
be a chaotic day, whether working on various marketing projects
such as Online Video, Social Media Marketing, Blog Content
Management, Social Media Training or Mobile App Development.
The nature of what I do and the responsibility
given to me enables me to champion my work and also allows me to
think innovatively & creatively. I often look for incremental
changes that can be applied to either our online / social media
marketing efforts, or other areas of the business. When necessary I
hold a meeting with the marketing team for review and support. Many
of my marketing campaigns require involvement from stakeholders
across the business and the team can provide really valuable
assistance with implementing changes & ideas to make them work.
This is also a great asset to my role as working in close
collaboration with a friendly team is both enjoyable and productive
experience.
As part of my role I also take some
responsibility for management of our job posting system, requiring
flexibility to address and resolve any urgent issues that
consultants on the sales floor may have. Depending on the nature of
the request this can often take priority over other daily tasks,
for example if, for whatever reason, we lose access to a major job
board, which in turn could be detrimental to the business.
Broadbean management also requires other administrative tasks to be
completed as and when needed, such as adding and managing system
user’s information and assigning job posting quota (credits).
ARM has recently sent me on a two day
training course to improve my knowledge of content management
systems, enabling me to assist our Senior Web developer with
maintaining the website content & structure. There are also
further opportunities for learning and development that will help
me to build upon and diversify my core competencies, a great aspect
to help me progress with my career in online & social media
marketing.
