I get in nice and early to check my
mountain of emails - this will include all advert responses, tasks
to be done and things to catch up on from the day before. (The
early bird catches the worm!)
Our team usually then has a meeting to discuss the agenda for the
day and the week and any issues that we may have.
Then, I’ll run through my current live jobs
and start to Resource them. This involves calling every candidate I
find who may be suitable for the position.
A typical call will involve checking a
candidate’s availability, location, suitability for the role and
preferred rates. It also involves qualifying them to determine
their commitment to the role, and more importantly, their
commitment to the client.
This will take up most of the morning. In
between speaking to candidates I will have to send emails
(including specifications etc), and send candidate details to
clients, which involves tidying up the candidates’ CVs and
emphasising their relevant qualities in order to sell them to
clients.
A break for lunch is followed by more of the
same in the afternoon.
In between all of this, we may get lucky and
arrange interviews for candidates, sort out offers for candidates
or on a bad day deal with the ugly side of recruitment - i.e.
candidates not showing for interviews, contractors leaving the
client or candidates accepting offers from elsewhere...
But, tomorrow is another day!
In my individual role, I also deal with
the Client side. This involves dealing with client administration,
speaking with client contacts and qualifying any requirements they
have. I also liaise with them to arrange interviews and visit
client sites to build the relationship further, and maintain a good
level of care. All in all, my job is extremely varied and
challenging - but fun.
